The challenge
HR teams stitch together spreadsheets, chat apps and legacy payroll tools to run people ops. The demo had to show a modern operating system spanning the full employee lifecycle — hire, onboard, run, review — without turning into another bloated enterprise HRIS.
My approach
Modeled HR as five connected modules — employees, attendance, payroll, performance and recruitment — behind a single dashboard shell. Each module ships as an end-to-end vertical slice with realistic seed data so a hiring manager can navigate hire → onboard → payroll → review in one sitting.

Technical decisions
Module-first architecture
Five HR modules (employees, attendance, payroll, performance, recruitment) modeled as independent vertical slices so each can evolve — and be sold — on its own.
Single dashboard shell
One shared dashboard layout with role-aware navigation instead of separate portals — HR ops is one audience wearing many hats, not distinct users.
Supabase + TanStack Query
Supabase for auth and multi-tenant data; TanStack Query for cache, optimistic updates and background refetching across every module.
Marketing + product in one repo
Public site (landing, pricing, blog, case studies) ships alongside the authenticated app so SEO, lead capture and product live under one deploy.
Outcome
A fully navigable HR SaaS demo used as an Upwork work sample: employee directory, attendance and leave tracking, payroll runs, performance reviews and a recruitment pipeline — all behind a single sign-in with a marketing site, pricing, blog and case studies.
